Asad Alam Siam graduated from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology in Architecture and did his MBA from Maastricht School of Management, the Netherlands.

He joined Bangladesh Foreign Service in 1995.

Besides working in the Headquarters, in his early career, he served in South East Asia including Bangladesh Missions in Jakarta and Bangkok. In strengthening bilateral relations between Dhaka and the two ASEAN Capitals, his job included enhancement of trade and investment, cultural exchanges, and political coordination. He also covered UNESCAP and Asian Institute of Technology in Bangladesh mission in Bangkok and coordinated Bangladesh’s entry to the ARF from the Mission.

He then served as Director in the Offices of the Foreign Secretary and Foreign Minister in the Headquarters between 2005 to 2007, managing coordination and consultation between these two Offices and rest of the Ministry, also with other Ministries.

He joined Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Manchester, UK as Assistant High Commissioner (AHC) in 2006. His responsibility as AHC involved welfare of Bangladeshi diaspora in Northern UK and Scotland and reporting regional political developments. From Manchester, he was transferred to Italy to open the Bangladesh Consulate General in Milan.

Returning Headquarters in 2013, he headed the Department of Europe and EU coordinating bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Europe. Since 2013, he served as Chief of Protocol responsible for state ceremonies, ensuring privileges, immunities and security of foreign missions and international organizations in Bangladesh. He also coordinated Presidential and Prime Ministerial incoming and outgoing visits to and from Bangladesh until he joined Bangladesh Embassy in Manila.

In September, 2016 Bangladesh Government nominated him as Bangladesh Ambassador to the Philippines.
